Just switched form a 25+ Utica oil, furnace to gas. A few years ago my indirect hot water heater began leaking so in the mid term I installed a tankless electric for the dhw until I was ready to replace everything.
In this set up, I can isolate the cold water in and hot water out to the combi unit, open Valves leading to the tankless electric and use it for hot water there’s a gas supply issue.
So regarding hot water this would be a dual fuel set up.
