Unique flush valve (one-piece toilet)?

I'd like to stop this flush valve from leaking. Replacing the flapper didn't help. The white plastic appears to be cracked around the middle screw, as you can see in the photo:

I found this similar (but different) flush valve online. No idea if it should be compatible with this one.

What puzzles me is if I unscrew this middle screw, doesn't the metal arch thing fall into the innards of the toilet?
 
That top black piece is just stuck on the flushvalve. It’s what’s left over from a fluidmaster flusher fixer kit. Just pull it off.

Use some long needle nose pliers to hold the bracket as you unscrew it. Do the same to get the screw started on the new one.

It takes a little skill......good luck 👍
 
Thanks. I wonder if I can just apply some Gorilla duct tape where the valve assembly attaches to the bowl?
