Tub spouts at hardware store don't seem to fit.

Trying to replace threaded non-diverter tub spout, but all the spouts I can find for sale thread onto 3/4" ID pipe, which is bigger than the pipe I have coming into shower. The spouts all seem to come with an adapter to 1/2" ID, but that won't thread onto the end of my pipe, which seems to have some kind of fitting attached to it that looks to be about 5/8" ID. Is there a chance I can find a spout that will fit this setup, or am I going to have to modify this or find some kind of adapter?

You need a 1/2” ips tub filler spout.

Check out the slip fit tub spouts. You could cut that male adaptor off and clean up the copper for one of these.
