,
For this one, am I limited to hack saw? Or there some kind of close quarters tool I can use for 4 inch ABS?

They have hack saw blade attachments made for close quarters. In a pinch, wrap a bunch of duct tape on one side of a hack saw blade and go to town.

I've also seen nylon twine used to cut PVC and ABS pretty well. Same technique as the rope saw.

Cotton yellow surveyors string . Or , maybe it is linen ?

Any time I tried to use a synthetic string , the string melted . :-(

God bless
Wyr

I believe you are correct Wyr, it was a non-synthetic string I just used and it worked great.

LOL...I , ashamed to admit , have never paid any attention as to the type of string.
I buy 300' rolls of masons line. to use when i rough in a building.
i cut off a approx 6' length to cut a pipe and disgard when its cut.

i even have used the string from inside my chaulk box, what ever is handy/available when the need arises

mostly use a saw zall, with a 12'' blade., grinder, or dremel
