Apparently, the introduction of restricted flow toilets, i.e., watersaving bowls, led to a problem commonly called Toilet Plume. Faster moving water leads to a bunch of mist emerging from the bowl that can contaminate the floor, and even your toothbrush. This video by Our Designer Homes is periodically popping up on youtube.

A Brit content provider even did a test using UV dye to track down how the mist propagates through the bathroom.

My Kohler Cimarron toilet bowl is just one of many offenders. It's a great flushing bowl, but I wonder if it is even possible to design a watersaving bowl to minimize the spraying of tiny droplets? Bad enough that I have to wear a mask to reduce the chances of Coronavirus- do we need to wear masks when using toilets? Frodo, I need you to invent a remote control flusher to take care of the impending health problem. You can get an international patent and make a lot of money. Sounds good?

Toilets have done this for decades. I recall watching a video demonstrating it back in school.

But yeah, close the lid. Flush toilets in public places with your foot if it's the type of handle where you can (just don't kick it and break it). Problem solved.
