Before I would replace an 8-year-old toilet, I would first remove the tank. Then I see if there is anything wadded up inside that hole. (And of course, remove it...)
 
well, what I actually did is pour CLR in the overflow and let it sit for a few hours. Then I manually cleaned the rim jets and the siphon jets with a wire and a steel brush. I believe it made a difference but it hasnt been truly “tested” yet. It def had mineral buildup. If it isnt fully better, would it be ok to take the tank off and pour CLR directly in there or just repeat what I did today?
