tankless water heater install

So, I,m talking to plumber about replacing a tankless water heater with the same mfg and model nbr.
And he asks me if it came with new gaskets. I didn't understand what gaskets he was talking about.
So I called AO Smith and asked if the new water heater comes with gaskets. They said there are no separate
gaskets that come with it for installation.
What gaskets could he be talking about?
