I live in a coastal area, where corrosion is a problem even in locations that should not get wet. Why is it that I can't find Stainless steel flange bolts anywhere? Everything is brass or some other metal that corrodes in high humidity/salt air environments.

Thanks.

Because in the old days flange bolts had to be trimmed to fit under the china caps, brass is soft and easier to cut

Today there are very substantial that are used. They're easy to cut and they don't corrode.

I just installed a toilet and tried hard to find SS flange bolts. None of the home centers (Lowe's, Home Depot and Menards, and also Ace Hardware) carried them, though they might have just been out of stock.
