Softener & Iron Filter Discharge

Hello. I live in a home with a well and septic tank. My softener and iron filter are both drained into the septic tank. Never really thought about it before, but the iron filter adds a lot of extra water to the system. Should this be changed and drained outside instead?

They should not be drained into your septic. It has a tendency to overload your septic.
