Smell from Sewage Basin

Hi! Brand new to the forum.

My wife and I recently bought a house and after a few weeks we noticed a smell coming from the basement bathroom. After some investigation we found the sewage basin under a cabinet in the bathroom. We had a guy come by and check it out, he was recommended by a friend. He ended up doing more damage than help. The basin and top are now cracked and cannot be resealed as they were designed. He tried caulking it, but the smell is still coming through.

From what I can find, this is not a normal shape for a basin, so to replace it all would require some excavation. Is that really the only option to truly fix the issue? Or are there rectangular basins out there?

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. This has been nightmare and before anyone says it…..I have definitely learned my lesson to not trust someone that says they are “kind of a plumber.” Not one of my finer moments, hahaha!

We need a better explanation and pictures of what is messed up, is the vent connected are the traps full of water how often do you use the bathroom the fixture traps always need water inthem

This bathroom was being used daily until about 2 months ago when the smell got too strong after the “plumber” made things worse. The vent is connected and there is water in the traps. I think the venting is an issue too. There is a vent running up the wall that goes out to the side of the house, but there is also an air admittance valve in the wall above the toilet.

He thought there might be an issue with the pump and while trying to get the top off of the basin he felt it necessary to drill out six of the screws. He ended up drilling larger holes into the top and drilled through/cracked the basin itself. He tried using silicone to seal it, but there is still a smell coming from the basin area.
