Hey everyone,

question in my basement I have 2 pipes that go to the septic. Only one of them smells when you get close to it. like right around the seam possibly. The house was built in 72 and all of the plumbing is copper.

is this a sign of the septic having an issue or the pipe just needs to be replaced?

it only smells at that pipe and when you are close to it. I noticed it when I was pulling new electric outlets.

If the joint is lead (under the white crap), then the lead can be rammed further in with proper lead caulking tools or a blunt device of your choosing.
Fair chance that there has been some expansion differential at play there.
