I'm seeking advice regarding a centrifugal pump installation in a shallow well (24'), specifically how to prevent the pump from drawing the water down below the foot valve intake. Are there accurate, reliable water depth measuring devices that will turn off the pump when the water level in the well approaches the intake and turn the pump back on when the well has recovered a few feet of water?

Put on a 2" tail pipe. The most a jet pump can lift is 24' anyway. With a 2' tail pipe screwed into the 24' deep foot valve, the pump will just stop pumping when the water level gets down to 24', Not that it is good for the pump to stop pumping, but that would work.
