Hello.
Background information.
I have discovered the concrete septic tank that use to service my home is still intact. However, the distribution box top caved in, not catastrophically, but still caved. I'm assuming the tank is the same age as my home, 1961 so 60 years old. The tank was retired in place in the early 2000s, so it hasn't been in use for 15ish years. I dug up the distribution box and the manhole for the tank. lueliving
The concrete appears to be in decent shape, about 2.5" thick, smooth inside, but rough on the dirt side. The concrete has a lot of large gravel in its composition. I tested my soil and it's slightly acidic. The tank also still has ~4" water in it.
My question is, should I collapse and fill or cover it and leave it in place?
