Rerouting a vent pipe

Hi, I am working on rerouting a 2” vent pipe. Is it safe to drill a 2” hole into the stud of an exterior wall? Also is it safe to drill a 2” hole into the top plate of a wall? The picture is the top plate for a wall that goes in between a bathroom and a bedroom. Thanks

Yes. It is done all the time. In fact, if you go to home depot you will find a 2 9/16 self feeding bit
it is the same bit we use every day.

You will likely want to put nail plates on the wood members when you're done.
