I'm trying to replace the tailpiece under my bathroom sink and all the videos I've found haven't looked exactly like what I'm dealing with. Here are some pictures of it, as you can see the back side of it is busted

You need to get the plastic extension piece out of the way then by hand you may be able to un thread that brass tail piece, or you may have to use pliers, worst case scenario the whole pop up assembly will have to be change, swing the trap out of the way also

The threaded piece will most likely break off leaving the male threads of the tailpiece still inside the female pop up threads.

Use something sharp to push between the male threads the female threads and pry the old broken piece out.

Works great. Good luck.
