Woke the other day to a major leak from our main water line. It runs about 50 ft. from the street to our house, 1 inch PVC. The leak appears to be from a prior break in the line that was repaired at some point in the past (with cinder blocks placed on top to level it (the plumber believes). Line is about 40 yrs old, and has some big trees nearby (and runs up a hill), so many roots. See photo below.
Plumbing company is recommending replacement of line with copper, and would not try to repair. Curious if repair is an option on this type of pipe? The prior repair lasted 10+ years.
