So after having my watts hot water recirculating system in my Colorado springs, I decided to pick one up here in Arizona. Now this time around has been more difficult and was wondering what size wrench or type of wrench removes the hex bolt fitting that connects the city cold water to my gas water heater on the top. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's been a long day. I mean to say the hot water line at the hot water discharge on top. (where there is a bunch of lime buildup)

A pair of pipe wrenches would be my weapon of choice. Maybe one pipe wrench on the nipple and a good 12" adjustable wrench on the top nut if I ddin't have two pipe wrenches.

To me it looks like it's had it I would chop it back and use a johnsons coupling if you have them over there

Pipe wrenches as phishfood said. And a little elbow grease ;)
