I tried to clean the pilot and replace the thermocouple on this one to get a another few months out of it. Didn’t work.

I’ve been running it this way for about 10 years.

So I’m on this job the other day and I’m repairing a lavatory faucet. I look over and see this in the countertop.

Americas future plumbers. This was taken 5 years ago.

The one on the left is soldering copper now. He’s good with the torch.

The other one on the right is good at fitting PVC and taking measurements.

Two...
Guessing you changed the mower from gas to propane because.... you could.
You find any advantage to burning propane?

I did it because I could is correct. Just playing around.

1) Left it that way because I never have to go to the store because I have old gasoline or no gasoline. Propane never goes bad.
2) I keep plenty of propane for prepping for hurricanes. I refill the small throw away propane bottles

3) Easy starts no matter how long the mower sits. Clean burning, no smell.

4) No chance my kids get into gasoline....
Had a kid I grew up with get burnt up by gasoline. Seeing that happen up close has an impact.

5) Old men like it when they drive by snd see it.

6) it’s sometimes fun let my wife pick up a propane bottle for the push mower from the hardware store. They argue with her......
Sometimes I need new bottles to refill so I buy a few.

7) one bottle is enough to cut my yard once.

Nice hack. We're tired of the maintenance and failures associated with current gas fuels. If you forget about a portable generator one winter, you will have a regrettable cost experience. There are some RV places that won't refill the small containers, partly depends on the container, but we have a propane tank. Would be interested in any details you would be willing to share, but understand if you don't want to do that.

The 1lb throw away bottles are not transportable in a vehicle after refilling.

You wouldn’t want those for a generator anyway.

What details would you like ?

Curious about what changes you had to make to the carburetor. I see the regulator below the handle. Is that all you use to adjust the fuel rate?

And is that a 2 lb or 4 lb bottle on your mower?

The carburetor gets sealed up. All the holes get epoxy.,

You then drill a hole and insert a brass tube directly through the carburetor into the engine.
Propane is already vaporized.

The fuel is delivered via the gas regulator and is fine tuned by the “ Tee “ with a bolt in it that screws in and out to fine tune the amount of fuel you get.

When the engine is running the vacuum the engine makes opens the regulator allowing fuel to flow. Engine stops the diaphragm on the regular closes cutting off your fuel.

When you pull the starting rope that creates a vacuum that opens the diaphragm on the gas regulator.

1lb disposable propane bottles.

Here is the bolt and tee that tube tunes your fuel delivery.

Cut this Delta cap off. I could’ve replaced the faucet but I wanted to hurry up and go to lunch. I was starving plus it was really hot in this ladies house.

Hand digging this one in a parking lot. I think it was 2” pvc, I don’t remember. It was 96 degrees that day, I almost died a couple times. 277B4900-BCB5-4C1F-B241-628F86F82442.jpeg
It was around 3.5’ deep under packed red clay.
