so i replaced my old valves with new ones…. when i turned the water back on it was dripping for a few mins then stopped?

You could’ve over or under tightened the compression nuts.

No way for me to tell you how tight you did or didn’t tighten it.

Sounds like it may be under tightened.

So, is it currently leaking? When it was leaking, was the water coming from the compression fitting, or the spigot?

Pictures? If it's not leaking anymore, you are fine.

I agree ma'am, but just curious why it was leaking in the first place, and is it installed correctly. Being a 1/4 turn, I guess it is possible that crud from the change over could have made it drip from the spigot for a bit, until the handle was rotated a few times to eliminate the crud. That's why I was curious as to where the leak originated from.

I know when I hired a company to repipe my old house, compression fittings were used exclusively. Two days after they left, I had a compression fitting, which was obviously not tightened properly, blow off, landing 10 feet away, and caused a gusher until I shut off the water and secured it probably.
