In the supply house, I overhear a man asking how to fit the shower trim to what he installed behind the wall. “The trim will not set flush with the tile. The adapters with the kit are too short or too long +\- 3/8”.”

I asked, “Did you purchase the kit on Amazon?” He said, “Yes”. Right then, I knew what he was up against having dealt with this China made kit once before. It’s not easy and requires pinpoint modifications to the adapters & threads because there is absolutely zero play with the trim.

His family, originally from Columbia, like mine, had a small farm with a small house and was building a much bigger house on the property.

After 2-1/2 hours of modifying adapters & creating soldered remedies to get it fitted exact, it all came together nicely for three complete shower trims.

He said, “I know you said you won’t take a payment, but can I pay you?” I said, “I had a good time meeting you and your son. I’ve smiled this whole time & this is what life is about. I’d rather help someone for free than sit at home watching Netflix, anyway.”

His twelve year old son, who was eagerly learning as much as he could about building a new house with his dad said, “Wait there!” He ran in the house and came out with 10 eggs his chicken laid & a loaf of bread he baked himself.

I was the only one small enough to work above the service level ceilings balancing on conduit banks & duct work.

I got volunteers to help with the second shift each day. Hence, the auto overtime to get second shifters to do this stuff after hours.

yeah, I’m beat.

But it’s done right.

Shamefully, our initial BIM construction coordination failed by under sizing long branches of 3” drains instead of 4”. And, the stack for this was installed incorrectly as 3”, so we swapped that with 4”.

This place is a brand new full service senior apartment building in South Park. Units starting at $5,700 a month.

yeah, a plumbing foul just after startup is a tarnish for our BIM.

Luckily, I got good ground guys that helped me get this two unique apartments drains re work done in three nights.

We start at 6:30 every morning, regardless.
glad I fixed it 😁

Personal time.

I Helped a friend lay out & cut this for a basement bathroom. He acquired this job as a novice handy man. I had fun with the quickly saw. Fist time for him.
