Pipe corrosion

Hello all,

I recently purchased a home and a brand new hot water heater was installed. However, I just noticed the pipe that connects to the cold water is corroded. I don’t know if this is new or old damage. It appears with the new hot water heater install that new parts were used to connect to an older pipe. My question is should I be concerned about this? We also have a sink that drips slightly, but that is with the hot water. Could that be a cause? Thanks so much.

That vent looks funny. Like it’s going down.....

Yes the fitting is looks like it’s leaking or has leaked. I’d replace it.

The leaking fitting wouldn’t cause a faucet to drip. Those are separate problems.

If its a new tank then have the company that installed it put a new dielectric union on at no charge.
