IMG_4144.jpg IMG_4145.jpg Hi-

My house and water heater are now about 9 years old. Never had an issue, other than corrosion on the water pipes, particularly on the hot side. I had the builder come out and address it a year or two after buying the house, but it has returned. Am I looking at a repair or a replacement at this point? This is beyond my level of comfortableness, so I will be calling a plumber either way. Just want to be prepared for the next step.

Thanks!

Brian

He should be able to take that nipple out and clean it up and put it back together properly.

Doesn't look to bad. I've seen worse that have lasted for several yrs with out any problems.
Average life of WH is 8 to 10 yrs. I've seen a lot of them last 12 to 20 yrs.
if it's in a room that's no going to cause damage if it does leak like a garage then wait until it does.
But to be safe time is ripe to go ahead and have it replaced.
Then again I seen new heaters leak as well.
Mine will get changed when I come home and find water running out of my garage.
