Overflow Gasket

Looks like the same gasket they have for a watco overflow kit.
Don't have the measurements for it, but it looks very similar.

Thanks for the advice and I’ll start my search for good plumbing stores. Question, is it possible to I guess, upgrade the overflow system with one that’s easier to access when I need to change the overflow gastket? It just seems as if the one that I have installed doesn’t make sense when it comes to repairs/access.

Or, go to NAPA Autoparts, and buy a piece of sheet gasket material and make one.

We carry gasket material, silicone gasket maker (not the same stuff as silicone seal and adhesive, it actually makes a gasket, which can be peeled off later if you need to), and NAPA O-ring kits on the service trucks. When you’ve got over 400 buildings, nearly all made before 1960, and the majority made by the CCCs in the 1930s, all of which are hysterical (historic to you warm and fuzzies), which are spread across a forest the size of Vermont, which because it isn’t one contiguous piece of land, covers the area of Maine: You learn to carry spares, and fix what’s broke.

And, the overflow gasket should rarely see water, so it isn’t usually something that needs serviced, unless you’re installing a new drain assembly.

Well good news folks... After extensive research, I was able to locate the the exact parts to replace the entire tub overflow system. I was able to get the main parts I needed from a company called Ferguson since the local hardware stores did not sell the overflow componentes that I needed. As far as the overflow gasket, I used a gasket that’s designed for the toilet but it fit perfectly on the
1-1/2 in overflow elbow. The gastket was larger and thicker which is exactly what I needed for the jet stream tub. The next project is to complete the hidden access panel on the tub’s tile deck. I’ve installed magnets on all four corners on the inside of where i opened a square in the tubs deck and attached the metal squares that will connect to the magnets on back of a seperate piece of backard board that I cut to fit exactly in the square that I cut and that will serve as my access panel. Only thing I need to do now is attach the tiles to the piece of backard board with mortar, connect that access panels using the magnets, then use sanded caulk around the tiles. Will keep you posted on the status.

I want to thank the folks who gave me ideas on how to repair my tubs overflow system. It was a big project but at the end it turned out pretty good. The challenge was finding replacement part, that’s half the battle. The other major challenge was installing a tile access panel in the tubs deck in order to access the overflow system.

Check out the before and after pics and let me know if you can find where I cut the hole for the tile access panel...

A lot of times they will just use glue on the overflow since it isnt being used often. Some guys dont like taking purple primer on a finish. One spill and something expensive can get ruined.
sometimes if it is new construction the will leave it off to put a test ball in it for inspection and then glue it on afterwards. Sometimes they forget.
