Hi Everyone..

John Lennon's toilet seat was auctioned for around $15,476; back in 2010 in US. I am confused about something. Can they really install and use this old toilet seat? Is it possible to install and use toilet seats which are more than 50 years old?

Most standards remain the same for toilet seat mounting holes on the bowl but that also depends if the items are geographically compatible, made in US but installing it in France, for example. I'm sure if somebody has 15 grand to blow on a toilet seat they can afford to make a toilet to suit the seat if necessary. At work we still have many toilets well over 50 years old that newer seats fit perfectly.

I don’t think that person will use this toilet seat, maybe he or she will just keep it with other collected items belonging to the Beatles group. But yes, toilet seats can be installed and used till they are damaged beyond repair.
