The gas valve assembly took a crap on the 10 year old tank that we had, so I went to Home Depot and picked up a Rheem for $470 and installed it. First time I've ever hooked one up.
Looks like some galvanized in the gas supply line. Some areas don’t allow it. But at least there is a drip leg to hopefully catch any bits that flake off. And it must have passed inspection years ago. Meanwhile, soldering looks pretty, and cool little home-made clamp for the gas pipe. But that little 1/2 inch wood piece might be prone to splitting.
Is that some kind of a universal joint on the yellow gas line to the furnace? Either that, or it’s bent, can’t zoom in for a clear look.
