Hey everybody,

I'm a first year apprentice in Ontario and have been working in plumbing for just about a year now. I joined the forum to learn tips, see perspectives from other professionals, improve my skills and knowledge and offer advice where I can.

welcome , are you taking any plumbing courses? In Quebec we have requirement that all apprentices must take at least one Course per year. this was due to so many 4 years that wrote the exam and failed. for example in the exam it asked
1) how many threads per inch for a 3/4 inch pipe,
2) what is the distance from the face to the centre of a black 2 inch thread elbow.
3) how far can you run a 2 inch pipe on a shower before you need a separate vent ,

these are just examples

Thanks Bill
Yes I did a one year pre-apprenticeship course at a local college and now that I am a registered apprentice I have to complete 8280 hours of work and 720 hours of in class training. My year in the pre apprenticeship program does account for some of those hours

If I had it all over to do again, I’d go into HVAC Repair.
