I need help, what is the fitting plumbers use to put on the black water pipe to help with iron and smell?

No seriously there is a fitting about 5-6 inches long that is suppose to allow air in to help with iron.
You said, "black water pipe to help with iron and smell".
Just to be clear on this I have to ask. Why black water pipe? Is black iron(actually a steel) pipe used for water besides in fire suppression systems?
Also, what do you mean exactly when you say, "help with iron and smell"? Help how?
Are you referring to water smell of say well water through iron pipes?
You'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge on this.
Thanks

If your using black iron on your fresh water then yeah you got a smell. No magic fitting just a repipe. But if it’s on drain then you have a vapor leak coming thru. Sewage stinks worse than black iron. Good luck. We need more details
