I have a water softener installed (used it for 8 years now) and the under the sink water filters.
Softener is salt pallets and I always keep it 2/3rds full (salt pallets).
For the under the sink filter (its the 2 3M filters system (650 gallons water flow capacity, so replacing filters about once a year. Replaced them about 2-3 months ago.
Issue: for the last 2 weeks I've noticed white sediment on the bottom of my electric water kettle.
It has never happened before, I'm puzzled as of what could be the issue?

White is generally an indication of calcium and magnesium (hardness). Are you sure your softener is working? Is it using salt?
Contrary to popular belief, you can get along just fine without those under sink filters.

OK, update.
I've checked my water softener and it had an "Error" on the display.
I've unplugged it, it did the Recharge. Then it got Error again.
I've unplugged it and it's been running since.
It will Recharge again tonight and I'll keep an eye on it. Lets see what happens.

Mitch, if the softener is running and the salt in the tank doesn't seem to go down much make sure that it isn't bridged over.
