Following installation of new bathrooms - family bathroom with toilet, bath, basin & Aqualisa shower, & ensuite with toilet, Aqualisa shower & basin, hot water flow to both basins & bath reduced to little more than a dribble. There is a hot water cylinder on the same floor in a cupboard adjoining the main bathroom, heated from a heat only boiler on the floor below. Plumbers told us that this is a common issue, unpredictable until new pipework is fitted, but is to do with the narrowed pipe passing through a single mixer outlet. Suggested solution was to mount 2 inline Flowflex pumps which was agreed to. When in operation this does increase the flow in the basins to an acceptable level, but the flow into the bath of hot water remains pretty weak even with the pumps going.
Is this a common issue, as we have been told? Is the pipework incorporating a gravity loop, from hot water cylinder to the 2 two showers as well as the other outlets to blame? What level of hot flow is considered acceptable from a bath tap?
