Can anyone help identify what this is? it looks like the cap on the end has come off and is why its leaking, but we don't want to put the cap back on without knowing what it is. Its located about 25ft away from our house.

I appreciate the different angles, but clean it off and dig some more out.

Looks like it could be sprinkler related, but those pictures don't show much.

First, turn off the water that feeds the leak. Then dig about a foot coming into and going out of the fitting and about 6 inches under the pipe. Dry everything off, clean away as much muck as you can so you can see what's going on. Not sure from the images you posted just what you have.

Dig out much farther under and around it.

Clean off all mud.

Let water drain away, then take new clear pics.

Then put something like a tape measure in your new pics, to help judge the size of what is shown.
