I mean, I did live with this work of art of a plumbing contraption for 4 years, it's true...

Who does the work is up to you, I’m just here to answer questions based off similar situations.

You need a ptrap though, sewer gas is entering your living space. That’s not healthy.
 
It’s probably where the dishwasher use to drain until they installed the disposal.

It’s probably dry.
