Hi All,

I am currently in the process of looking at Wet Rooms as I want to re do my en suite and my bath room.

I am basically looking at Impey Level access showers as they look nice and it will make it easier to shower.

I posted the same question on another forum and got this feedback "Impey are fine but I think you can get better. Their membrane is a right pain to use though."

So could you let me know of any brands that are better or if you have experience with Impey tell me if they are good.

Cheers

Well firstly, am Richard De Vere of Plumbnow.me I have worked converting bathrooms into disabled level access shower in the UK and have done maybe 20-30 conversions.

The impey system is a good one to use and is the market standard for what your trying to do. you can cover these with a Vinyl floor layer that is not slip or you can tile over them. Both ways require the use of a latex floor levelling screed.

Now if you are a plumber/handy man by all means do the plumbing side of it yourself it's easy but the floor should be done by a specialist in vinyl floors as if done wrong can look a real a mess and to make sure is is waterproof for a long time you need to plastic weld all the seems etc to make this last.

If your tiling, again you need to have a lot of thought into keeping the tiles from being 100 percent waterproof to avoid lifting off the tray so definitely use Mappe Epoxy grout (nasty to use be warned but great)

Ask away if you have any further questions. If you get stuck for a good plumber in your area give me a call and it might be worth a working holiday to somerset.
