We service a 2 pump sewage ejector system on a 20 unit apartment building about every 6 months.
Used to be fouled with lard/grease, but last couple years it has been sanitary wipes.
The system needs grinder pumps.
It has a control panel that alternates pumps.
3 floats control both pumps. stop float/start float/ alarm float.
Pumps are only 120v each.
after the controls there are 2 quick disconnects with fuses.
Couple weeks ago we could not respond to and alarm. (pump failure ) so management called someone else.
A$$holes bypassed all the controls and safety disconnects.
Installed a box to hold 2 GFI outlets.
Removed the 3 floats.
Then the cut the power cords and spliced plug connectors .
Then they added floats to each pump with piggy back plug power cords.

1 week later we're pulling the pumps, impacted with sanitary wipes.
splices they made on power cords were in the water ( when the sump filled )
So even after we cleared the pump, they would trip the GFI.

That is a really nasty job and the residents have been notified several time.

Some of these photo are from previous cleaning

Mr David, I ran into the female product issue before that drove us crazy. I bought from orange big box
some 1/2'' wire mesh. made a cage for each pump to sit in, i made them tall enough so that we could snatch them out to clean.
worked ok, but we had a problem cleaning them out, the pads dropped back in the tank
SOOOOOO
we turned up the bottom, when you pick it up,the stuff drops into catch trey

it worked for us

Excellent method! Will work for many such similar instances.

Are the people not informed about the problems that their napkins cause? I know you can't avoid an occasional one, including diapers, but even this fix will fail after awhile from plugging, won't it? I suppose the annual ignored warning doesn't do it. LOL

That entire system needs to be replaced. Tank lid is steel and has deteriorated so bad from rust.
maybe now the hacks hacked it up so bad that they might not have a choice and will have to replace it.
