How to Identify a Tub Faucet Stem

Tub faucet stem failed and I've went to (3) different general hardware supply places and none were any help and I picked up one at Lowes that appeared the same but the threads at the base weren't right.

Any idea how I can find the correct stem?

If the new one won’t get tight then your valve body is shot. Time for a new faucet.

So far so good......appears to be working and reassembled.
