HELP! Shower and tub trim kit confusion...

Hello, New here! I would like to kind of "mix and match" a shower and tub trim kit with Moen pieces. Is that at all possible? Any help with this would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

it really depends on the valve
is it a 2 handle, 8'' center spread?
or a single handle?

a shower head and tub spout are really generic and will fit any valve

Moen offers two shower valves. The Moentrol and the positemp. The trims are NOT interchangeable. The tub spout and shower heads wouldn’t matter but the actual trims are valve centric.
