San Diego,
Just to the left of the cold stop is what I assume to be a strainer. How do you get this out? There is buildup that is constricting the flow of cold water. This is a Moen valve.

Thanks for any advice/insight.

Just on my way out the door to work, no time for a long post but I had to stop and say that that is -not- a moen valve. At least not any I have seen in the last 16 years of selling moen. Might be a PF or delta/peerless.

A pic of the cartridge would help

I've never seen one like this either. But definetly not a Moen.
Moen did make a similar valve called the Moentrol that had a pressure balance spool/cartridge in a similar configuration.
This is probably a pressure balance mechanism.
Could be Delta/Delex or Valley.

Muh, you know I am tired when I put PF instead of PP...stupid silent P gets me every time. (I have a box in my desk called Pfister Pfarts). Thanks David, i had totally forgotten about this thread.

Odd that I did find it when I googled images for PP Balance Valves.
I like it when a maker of a product puts a parts diagram of their products on line.
I got lucky because I looked at a lot of different search options and was about to call it a night.
I hope Nuglas comes back and doesn't end up being another 1 hit and run member.
I wanted to find it just to see if I can.
