Hi All
New on this forum and looking for advice

When my house was built the plumber routed the pump 2" discharge into a wye on the side of the 4" gravity drain rather than the top. Will this be problem? There is not room to cut out and replace the wye fitting. I could cut the pump discharge pipe right before it enters the wye and use 45 fittings to raise above the height of the gravity drain. Or, should I just not worry about it? There is a check valve in the 2" pump discharge.

Thanks

it's still tough to see (it's my iPod)if its worked for 17 years
and you were just in there to change the pump I would just
change the pump as long as you have a working check valve
I think your ok I change my pump 2 years ago I also bought
a ball valve and check valve complete setup all schedule 40
pvcdont rely on those ones on the rubber couplings my pump
line also enters the main on the horizontal

On the right side of the second pic is the elbow in the 2" horizontal that drops down to the sump. (Ignore the 3" horizontal at the bottom of the pic - it's the exhaust for the power vent WH)

My question is should I insert 2 45s in the wye and raise the level of the 2" horizontal above the level of the 4" gravity.

I should add that it's been this way since the house was built 17 years ago. I only noticed it this week when replacing the pump float switch.

Thanks
