I'm a 4th year plumber in Calgary. Recently laid off due do the downturn unfortunately. I do commercial new construction.
 
Sorry to here that. new construction is good work when the someone is building stuff. Actually Any work is good work. I have seen a few guys try service and repair after doing new work. They don't handle the nasty broken dirty stuff to well. Fixing dirty broken stuff is a whole different ball game.
Transition to new work from repair work is a bit easier.

Even repair work can have it's slow periods, but the jobs are smaller so your quality of work and good referrals can keep the work flowing or
