Wishing all on the forum a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I have a house in Las Vegas and learned about "sloop" this year which helped explained why I was getting backups when the house sat empty during the long hot summer.

I live in a subdivision with continual new construction and when I came back in September, after one day noticed a Scorpion in the shower stall. I figured it must have crawled up through the drain. Put a $8 screen from HD over it and no more Scorpions.

And now for Propane. From last November to this November, to fill my propane tank with 280 gallons cost me $660, or a 157% increase per gallon. Thanks Brandon.

Teach me about sloop ! Vegas is one of my favorite cities, absolutely love the place. Not necessarily the gambling but the entire area as a whole.

Yeah, thanks to Brandon My fill ups are $70+ rather than $50 for my service van.
I’ve started adding $5 per invoice for fuel.

Here's my hillbilly explanation. When they remodeled resort casinos with low flow toilets they consistently started backing up. They suspected a rise and run issue and that velocity was not operating as expected. They developed "sloop" to recreate the blockage and observed. The result was redesigning some of the large older resorts plumbing systems.

I have one toilet located close to the street which is a straight run and I guess when I leave for the summer, there might be some sloop that probably dries out and that's why there is probably an initial backing up. So I flush a few times when I get back in the fall.
