Hi Gang,

I see these three terms used here and on other sites and forums, I think I know the differences but can anyone explain or define them as far as what is what and which is which?

And are there even more terms that might go into this group of similar doo-dads?

Gland nut is more for pumps and sealing the rod from water intrusion.
packing nut is for gate valves multi turn valves and old shower stems. Tightens the packing around the stem.
bonnet is usually the nut to hold a cartridge in place In faucets. Either single handle or 2 handle.
