After an inspection it was recommended we change out our flex pipe gas line (that goes to our water heater) from what I believe is 1/2 inch to something bigger (3/4?). Thought I'd ask the experts.

Does the smaller 1/2" make our water heater work harder?

If so, is this something I can change out on my own?

There's also the same size that runs to our furnace. Does this need to be changed out as well?

I'm all for DIY but will gladly adhere to safety recommendations if it's safer to get a licensed pro. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply!

Get the paint out of the room.

Yes, I like keeping the utility room nice and un-cluttered. In other words, my girlfriend moved all that stuff in there haha. I'm moving it out now.

Is it because it's flammable, or might emit VOC's? Just curious.
