Fleck 5600 setting changes

I have a Fleck 5600 Econominder and once in a while the water hardness setting changes when it regenerates.
It doesn't do it all the time, only occasionally. But I have to check it all the time and I am getting tired of this.
It moves to where it is in this picture...


And then I have to reset it to where I want it with the 'number of people = 1' mark by the 'hardness = 19' mark like this picture.



Why does it do this and how can I fix it?

Call the manufacturer customer service.

Or check your manual or google the issue.

Those control heads often work like an old electric alarm clock, with a little clock motor inside and little actuator pins that can wear down or snap off.
