In the OP's follow up post, not only did the element explode, but it distorted the metal and protruded it outward. For damage to occur as I read this, replacement would be my only option. Then again, everything is speculation until he chimes in here again.
@Admin , you're being paged buddy.

No way it bent the tank.

It’s just not typical to replace a water heater for an electrical problem. Not even a new one.

It also wouldn’t be at all typical for any type malfunction damage the tank.

About the only thing that would bend the tank is an extreme vacuum or uncontrolled thermal expansion/extreme pressure build up.

I didn’t say labor cost.

I said “ labor and costs “. There’s a difference.

I like to troubleshoot rather than just being a replacement specialist that makes a guess.

Anyway, have a good day. 👍
I don't like defective New items... If a New item breaks when new, you never know what else could go wrong with it.

An element that runs for 3 months and fails isn’t necessarily defective. It couldn’t been damaged in multiple ways.

It would be similar to wanting a new car because you had a flat tire......

I sold my best car because I had a blowout on Xmas eve, and had to park in the center divider of an interstate freeway. How dare that tire go in such a dangerous area!

No comparison... At ALL. Now you sound ridiculous

What’s the difference ? It’s a expendable part on the car just like an element is expendable. There’s absolutely no difference.

Replacing a basic water heater for an electrical problem is what sounds ridiculous.
