This is the drain in a friends basement. The large pipe is the toilet and the small pipe is from the shower. I don't know the diameter of either pipe. But, with the shower pipe going into the side of the large drain pipe, to me, that just doesn't look correct??? Your plumbing knowledge and wisdom is appreciated. Thanks.

I haven’t ever saw a side inlet fitting with the hub in the centre of the fitting before. Normally they are above the centre line, and can only be used at the top of a stack.

I’m sure the way that is plumbed is against the code in your area. I know it’s against mine. (Canada)

It probably doesnt meet code here either but unless you are changing the plumbing dont worry about it. If you are looking to use the pipes for something else you have to change it. Sure its a 2 and 3" but it helps if you measure
