Good Morning, let’s just call this Connie Chronicles, because it seems I may be posting here a lot. Most recent issue…I have well water with copper pipes and continue to get dirty looking water with little black particles from the tub and washing machine hookup. If I run the tub water for 30 mins or more, the color starts to clear up ( the longer the better), but the black particles are still present. No problems with the sink or shower. I’ve yet to wash my clothes here. Laundromats have become my friend. I had the water tested when I moved in (March) and it had high levels of magnesium and iron. So, I bought a Springwell whole house filtering system to add to the existing water softener. This got rid of the rotten egg smell and improved the water quality overall, but didn't fix the tub/washer issue. I thought it may be something with the water heater, which was nearly 30yrs old, so I had that replaced this week. The problem still exists. I called Springwell and they said it doesn’t sound like a filtering problem, but suggested that I reinstall the water softener filter after the softener. So, it would be filter, softener, filter. But, I question why I should have to install a filter to filter a filter, especially one that cost me $3000. I just find it odd that it’s only in these two locations, which are both on opposite sides of the house, with the kitchen and another bathroom between them. The other bathroom is directly above the laundry room and the water there is fine. Also, oddly, the laundry room sink water is fine. Just the hookups have the problem. On the attached pictures you can clearly see the difference in the tub and sink water and the dried up dirt (if that’s what it is) left behind in the tub looks. I also attached a picture of the laundry room. You can see what the washing machine hose looked like when I moved in. It’s a clear hose, so that’s years of built up nastiness. And somehow me, nor my agent, noticed this before closing. It was when I replaced the hose that I saw the water. My next step is to call my home warranty company to send someone out, but it would help if I have some ideas. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I suggest you sanitize your piping. This could be working loose inside the piping and would take a long time to clear on its own. The tub and washer have little or no "screening filter" on your outlets. The washer likley has a screen, but the tub doesn't. Take your areator off of your kitchen sink and see if it has the black particles embedded.

I'm not sure if you can handle it or not. Google some instructions and decide for yourself.
