I am replacing my tub and discovered that the bathtub was plumbed using a direct drain. I bought a direct drain piece from amazon but it is only a half kit.

I now have an overflow piece and a drain piece but don't know the best pvc fitting to connect them. Do I use a 90 eblow, a street 90, or two street 45?

Ok. So you need a regular straight run of 1-1/2" PVC to go from overflow to elbow & then more to go from elbow to the drain. Street 90 just means it has one flared end to be a female fitting. It's female to male basically. You would need female to female sweep.
Like this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Charlotte-...edule-40-Hub-Elbow-Long-Sweep-Fitting/3132787

Sharp 90s are used for vents, sweeps are used for drains. This is less likely to obstruct flow. Under the drain you will need another short run of PVC pipe to connect to a 1-1/2" P-trap.

It should end up looking like the Jones Stephens full kit https://www.supplyhouse.com/Jones-S...t-CP-Toe-Pop-Up-Drain-w-1-Hole-Face-Plate-PVC

I'm planning to get a similar kit for one of my drains where they cut a joist (ALL the way through) for the P-trap of a tub. If you prefer HomeDepot you can probably find the elbow hub there but I just went with first link from google.
