Changing basin taps from 2 taps to a mixer

Hi there,

I am a novice when it comes to Plumbing but found this forum and hopefully someone can advise.

I wanted to change my 2 taps in my basin to a mixer tap and wondered if I could this myself and avoid calling a plumber. I have attached a photo of my current set up. I wondered if I could simply unplug the silver hoses and plug them straight into a mixer tap and remove the copper piping?
