Hello

I need to change my toilet shut off valve. I thought it was a compression fitting and that’s what I bought to replace it but I guess I was wrong. See pic attached. How do I take that connector off so that I can fit the new valve?

Won’t that make the supply pipe a lot shorter? There is no other way?

If you bought a Brasscraft valve the guts will interchange if your existing valve body is in good condition it’ll work fine.

Otherwise you may need a torch to remove the old valve and wipe away the old solder with a rag. Then install your new stop valve that compresses on the pipe.

You can just change the 2 washers just make sure what ever you do look inside the pipe to make sure all of the washer came out
