Does your sewer run under the basement floor?

Sewer could be cracked and leaking into the gravel under the basement slab.

It almost looks like grease.

Is there a slop sink that drains into the sump pit?

This is a sump pump? Do you have 2 in that pit?

There is a small plastic drain line leading into the pit.

Could be from a water softener.

Maybe the gunk is some kind of mineral build up?

The OP has not returned with any more info yet.

Looks like two pumps down there, each with its own discharge line.
