A guest knocked the spout off from the tub with her knee while taking a bath. As you can see from the attached photo, the plastic pipe is broken off behind the enclosure and there's no access from behind. Is there a way to fix this without having to cut more holes?

I just want to avoid excess charges, as I've been burned in the past.

You might find a service guy that has made that repair before. If i were doing that to my house i would create an access panel on the backside of the valve. It will make future work much easier.

Look in with a flashlight and see if that plastic fitting is glued in or screwed in. If glued you'll have to get to it from
the back like CT18 said. If screwed you can try and easy out tool. Let us know what you got.

You will probably run into issues trying to take that out from the front side. Is that cpvc? Is it pvc threaded into brass? Just like CT18 said, I would cut from the back side and replace it. You might have to anyway.
